Education:
I attended "B.B. Harris Elementary School"
for the grades of Kindergarten through 5th. I went to "Duluth
Middle School" from the 6th grade-8th grade. I completed
9th-12th grade at "Duluth High School", where I participated
in the sports of tennis and swimming. I also played recreational softball,
GO STINGERS!!!! I was a member of the Interact Service Club and Beta Club.
At UAB I was a member of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC),
Reaching Out As Role Models Program (ROAR), and Fellowship of Christian
Athletes (FCA). I have made the Student-Athlete Honor Role, Dean's List,
President's List, and the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. I am
also a member of "Golden Key", "Beta Gamma Sigma", "Chi Alpha Sigma", "Phi
Kappa Phi", "USAA", "Who's Who Among American College Students", and the
winner of the "Marketing Outstanding Student Award", "Young Women's Business
Scholarship" and the "License to Learn Academic Scholarship". I majored
in Marketing and minored in German
and
International Business.
How I came to UAB:
I came to UAB mainly because of my tennis
coach, Zenda Griebenow. She played at UAB and contacted Mert Ertunga on
my behalf. I also chose UAB because it's just the right distance from home
and I had always dreamed of playing Division I athletics.
Perception of the College Life:
(Before I came): "I really didn't know what
to expect. I knew a little about it from friends, TV, and movies; but I
think it's one of those things you have to experience for yourself. I was
nervous about being away from my family and very nervous about living with
three foreigners."
(After I came): "These past years have been awesome. I don’t think I will ever have the opportunity to be around so many cultures again. Each one of my teammates has affected me in some way, and I am a different person because of them (in a good way of course). My roommates are some of the coolest people I have ever met, they are helping me to become the person I want to be."
Future Plans:
I plan to graduate from UAB and actually
start working (someone pray for me). Directly after graduation, I
will be doing a marketing internship with Lufthansa AG in Frankfurt, Germany.
I will return to the US in December of 2001. Who knows after that?
I will work somewhere I guess and hopefully will be going to MBA school
in the Fall of 2002. After that, I would love to have the opportunity
to work in Europe for a while. As far as getting married and having a family
are concerned (the typical Southern-girl thing to do), all I can say is-
Not Now!!! I'm not setting any permanent plans, I'm just gonna see where
I end up.
Greatest accomplishment:
I have four moments in my life so far that
stand out in my mind. The first moment is the first tennis tournament I
won (Kennworth Invitational). The second moment is a softball game I played
in when I was sixteen. We were down by 2 runs, bottom of the 9th,
bases loaded with 2 outs, and I hit a double to win the game for my team.
What made this game special was that it was the game deciding who won the
division championship (Rowdy Bunch, 1995). The third was when I saved an
18 month old boy's life by using CPR (Summer of 1996). Lastly, the moment
when I signed my tennis scholarship to go to UAB on November 12, 1997.
Motto: "Don’t ever give up. If you want it bad enough you can get it, if you are willing to fight for it."
Kristina says hello to:
"I want to thank my family for everything
they have done for me and also always being there for me. Bradley

needed it- I will never forget it- thanks for the warm bed and the
wine coolers- To the remaining foreigners (my teammates), YA'LL ARE DA
